FDH Bank has donated K15 million towards the National ICT Innovations Awards by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (Macra), highlighting the bank’s commitment to promoting innovation in the ICT sector.
The awards, scheduled to take place on April 21, 2026, aim to celebrate and support local innovation in addressing Malawi’s challenges.

FDH Bank’s head of corporate and institutional banking, Kawawa Msapato, emphasized that ICT innovations are crucial in providing solutions to the country’s problems, and the bank is keen on promoting homegrown solutions.
Msapato stated that the bank’s support is driven by the belief that digital innovation holds the key to solving many of Malawi’s challenges.
The awards provide a national platform for innovators to gain exposure and connect with wider audiences that can support their ideas.
Macra’s director of finance, Mphatso Phiri, commended FDH Bank for its support, highlighting that the event will celebrate efforts of locals in developing ICT solutions.
Macra is expected to honour 20 ICT solutions developed by local youths that are critical in various fields, including technology, climate resilience, and efficiency improvement.
The ICT Innovation Awards are part of Macra’s mandate to promote research, development, and innovation in the ICT sector, aligning with Malawi’s long-term development agenda, including Vision 2063.
The event is expected to provide a platform for emerging innovators to showcase solutions and contribute to the growth of Malawi’s digital economy.
