Malawian music star Driemo is on the brink of achieving something few artists ever manage breaking a record he already owns.
His blockbuster hit Joker has secured a 15th non-consecutive week at No.1 on the Official Top 50 Malawian Global Streamed Songs Chart dated May 25, placing the song just one week away from matching the longest reign ever recorded on the chart.
The record currently belongs to Magini, another Driemo smash hit that dominated the streaming rankings for 16 weeks. The latest development has created a fascinating scenario in which the singer is now competing against his own legacy.

At a time when many artists struggle to sustain momentum beyond a few weeks, Driemo continues to command the attention of digital music consumers across the globe. His latest chart triumph demonstrates not only the staying power of Joker but also the loyalty of his fan base.
During the latest tracking period, the song generated an impressive 426,528 combined weighted on-demand streams from YouTube and Spotify, enough to comfortably retain its grip on the summit.
The numbers further reveal the scale of the song’s popularity. Joker attracted 595,456 views on YouTube and 33,526 streams on Spotify, maintaining its status as Malawi’s most consumed song across major streaming platforms.
What makes the achievement even more remarkable is that Driemo is not relying on a single hit. The artist currently occupies three places inside the Top Five, with Magini sitting at No.3 and Pensulo at No.4.
The chart dominance highlights an artist who has successfully turned streaming success into a sustained career advantage, setting a benchmark that many of his peers are still chasing.
Elsewhere, Zeze Kingston’s Ndilira Mumvula featuring Yo Maps continued its impressive run at No.2 for a seventh consecutive week, refusing to surrender ground despite the overwhelming force of Joker.
Meanwhile, Gwamba’s Alole featuring Teddy Makadi and Kineo Madness returned to the Top 10, suggesting renewed audience interest in the collaboration and adding fresh competition to the upper reaches of the chart.
As anticipation builds ahead of next week’s rankings, the question is no longer whether Joker is a hit. The question is whether Driemo is about to make Malawian streaming history once again by surpassing a record that he himself established.
