Hardworking Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Ben Phiri, on Friday officially launched the Reformed Constituency Development Fund Dashboard, a bold digital tool set to bring transparency, accountability and speed to development projects across Malawi.
Speaking at the launch, the visibly energized Minister said the era of hiding behind delayed reports and incomplete projects is over.
He warned that the new system was deliberately designed to be simple, practical and user-friendly, and there would be no excuse for late uploading of project information by councils.
“
His Excellency the President will be able to monitor project implementation from his office. The Honourable Minister of Finance, the Minister of Information and OPC will also have real-time access,” Hon. Phiri said, adding that as the minister responsible, he will be following progress closely. “Those performing well will be recognized. Those falling behind will equally be visible.”
The dashboard, widely praised by stakeholders, gives Malawians a clear window into how public resources are being used at constituency level.
Hon. Phiri emphasized that people deserve projects completed on time, quality infrastructure and value for money, and this platform is one of the key instruments to deliver on that promise.
Commending the technical teams from his Ministry, the National Local Government Finance Committee and cooperating partners, Hon. Phiri said their dedication and professionalism made the achievement possible.
His leadership in pushing the reforms has been applauded by many council officials and civil society actors who say the minister’s hands-on approach is restoring public trust in CDF management.
The launch comes under the decisive leadership of His Excellency President Arthur Peter Mutharika and the DPP-led government, which continues to champion transparency and effective service delivery.
President Mutharika’s vision of a Malawi where development reaches every community is being matched by action on the ground.
“It is now my singular honour and privilege to officially launch the Reformed Constituency Development Fund Dashboard,” Hon. Phiri declared. “Together, let us make the Reformed CDF a model of transparency, accountability, and effective local development.”
