The United States Embassy in Malawi has expressed interest in supporting local entrepreneurship and innovation by linking Malawian innovators with international networks, investors and business opportunities.
The interest follows a Thursday engagement between embassy officials and Sparc Systems Limited in Lilongwe, where discussions centred on technology, innovation and potential areas of collaboration.
The delegation, led by Deputy Public Affairs Officer Arshelle Carter, toured the company’s data centre, training facilities and cybersecurity subsidiary, District30.
The officials also attended presentations by entrepreneurs participating in the SPARC Innovation Space Acceleration Programme, which supports emerging businesses and innovative ideas.
United States Embassy Public Affairs Officer Amy Petersen said the creativity demonstrated by entrepreneurs at the Innovation Space was inspiring.
Petersen described Sparc Systems as a potential partner in promoting innovation, skills development and economic growth through stronger collaboration.

Meanwhile, Sparc Systems Territory Manager for Malawi and Mozambique, Tase Phiri, said the engagement had created opportunities for the company to connect with American foundations, investors and technology firms.
Phiri said such connections could help mobilise international support for the company’s innovation initiatives and expand opportunities for Malawian entrepreneurs.
The engagement highlights the potential for international partnerships to strengthen Malawi’s technology ecosystem, promote entrepreneurship and create pathways for local innovators to access global expertise, investment and markets.
