Citizens for Transformation (CFT) has dismissed reports circulating on social media concerning its Commander-in-Chief, Timothy Pagonachi Mtambo, describing them as baseless propaganda aimed at damaging his reputation and undermining the Malawi Redemption Project.
In a press statement dated November 6, 2026, CFT said recent speculation surrounding Mtambo’s political intentions, alleged plans to organise protests, possible arrest and relationship with religious leaders was part of what it described as a sustained campaign of misinformation and intimidation.
The organisation also moved to address allegations concerning Mtambo’s faith and his relationship with the leadership of Jesus Nation Church, formerly known as ECG, and its spiritual leader, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.
CFT clarified that Mtambo is a born-again Christian and maintains respect for religious leaders both locally and internationally, including the leadership of Jesus Nation Church.

The organisation further explained that a photograph circulating alongside the allegations was an old image taken when Mtambo attended a Jesus Nation Church event as guest of honour during his tenure as Minister of Civic Education and National Unity.
Addressing questions about his current public silence, CFT said its leader was on sabbatical leave, warning that his absence from the public spotlight should not be interpreted as fear, intimidation or surrender.
The organisation also expressed concern over what it described as a pattern of political persecution targeting Mtambo under the current administration.
Among the issues raised were the resurfacing of a case which CFT says had long been closed, a reported arrest warrant and alleged intimidation of members of his family.
CFT warned that such developments would not deter the organisation from pursuing its political agenda, insisting that it remained committed to the Malawi Redemption Project.
The movement said its central mission was to fight corruption, tribalism, regionalism, hatred and injustice while promoting transparency and accountability in the country.
In the statement, CFT also appealed to media organisations to maintain independence and professionalism, urging journalists to concentrate on issues affecting ordinary Malawians rather than allowing themselves to become instruments of political propaganda.
“Our leader is on sabbatical leave, and being silent does not mean he is afraid of anyone,” the statement emphasised.
The statement was signed by Kinnear Mlowoka, CFT Chief Strategist and Publicity Secretary, who reaffirmed the organisation’s determination to continue with its political mission despite what it considers attempts at intimidation.
CFT concluded by declaring that neither propaganda nor persecution would derail the Malawi Redemption Project, maintaining that the movement remained united and determined to pursue its objectives.
“Aluta continua, victoria acerta!” the organisation declared.
