A 30-year-old nurse working at Dowa District Hospital, Chipiliro Suwali, has been arrested for allegedly defrauding job seekers of more than K10 million by promising to help them secure positions as Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs).
Dowa Police Station spokesperson, Alice Sitima, said Suwali allegedly collected money from individuals in various districts, claiming to have connections with the Human Resources Management team at the Ministry of Health headquarters.
Sitima said the suspect, who hails from Nkhonya Village, under Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje District, is currently on court bail.
