Bushiri forgives Sambo

By Chisomo Phiri

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri says he has forgiven gospel musician Peter Sambo after the artist  admitted wrongdoing and apologised for publishing offensive statements towards the man of God, his family, and his ministry.

According to Bushiri, the decision to forgive Sambo follows the musician’s public expression of remorse and acknowledgment that the remarks and social media posts were made out of anger.

He says he recognised Sambo’s humility and willingness to openly admit his mistakes, describing forgiveness as an important step towards promoting peace and unity.

The prophet has however, warned people in the country against the spread of false information and character assassination, saying misinformation has the potential to fuel violence and even lead to loss of life.

He cites recent incidents in Chikwawa and Nsanje districts, where seven people  have lost their lives due to false reports and misinformation circulating within communities.

Last week, Sambo publicly apologised to Bushiri over statements and content he had shared on his social media platforms, including remarks influenced by opinions from other individuals.

He also pledged to remove all posts deemed offensive to Bushiri.

Meanwhile, sources close to Bushiri indicate that the matter is unlikely to proceed to court in London, United Kingdom, following the reconciliation between the two parties.
