Chakwera To Attend Archbishop Msusa’s Silver Jubilee of Priestly Anniversary Celebrations

President Lazarus Chakwera will on Sunday September 19, attend the Silver Jubilee of Priestly Anniversary Celebration for Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa at Namwera Catholic Parish in Mangochi District.

According to a statement signed by Secretary to the president and cabinet Zanga-zanga Chikhosi, the president will arrive at the function at 9 o’clock in the morning.

Born of 2nd February, 1962 to a Muslim iman, Msusa left his village for study at the age of seven and was baptized at the age of twelve.

He was ordained priest on 3 August 1996 and was appointment as Roman Catholic bishop on 19 December 2003 by Pope John Paul II.

On 17 April 2004, Msusa was ordained bishop to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Zomba and was later appointed to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Blantyre in 2013 before being installed as Archbishop on 8 February 2014.
