Malawi Flames player Deness Chembez says he is not yet ready to quit football, insisting that he still has plenty of time to continue his playing career.
Chembez made the remarks after taking up a leadership role at newly established Thondwe All Stars Football Club from Zomba.
The experienced player says one of his ambitions is to help guide Thondwe All Stars into Malawi’s top-flight league within the next four years.
According to Chembez, the target is achievable if the club continues to develop and maintain its current momentum.
He says the club is also determined to develop players who can attract interest from other teams across the country.
Chembez believes establishing a strong foundation will be key to achieving the club’s long-term ambitions.

He says the team has already demonstrated encouraging signs of progress through a series of friendly and assessment matches.
“We have played 23 friendly matches, winning 18, drawing three and losing only two,” said Chembez.
He said the results show that Thondwe All Stars are building a competitive squad capable of challenging stronger teams.
Chembez has also appealed to well-wishers and potential sponsors to support the club financially as it works towards achieving its objectives.
He said the club’s doors are open to individuals and organisations willing to contribute to its development.
“We are building a strong team, and for those who want to support us financially, the door is wide open,” Chembez said.
Thondwe All Stars will now be looking to build on their encouraging results as they continue their preparations and pursue their long-term ambition of reaching Malawi’s top division.
