Lilongwe Derby Ends In A 1-1 Draw

The eagerly-awaited clash between Silver Strikers and Civil Service United ended in a 1-1 draw at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.

Silver went ahead in the 43rd minute through a Frank Banda’s goal but Muhammad Sulumba scored in the 64th minute after receiving a cross from Chikondi Maloya to bring the match on even terms.

Civil suandered a glorious chance in the 67th minute as John Dambuleni headed wide a beautifully taken corner by Damiano Kunje.

Part of the action between Silver Strikers and Civil Service.

In the dying moments, Silver had some fine chances but they failed to score as Civo’s goalkeeper Tione Tembo made some brilliant saves.

Silver remain on top with 46 points from 22 games followed by Nyasa Big Bullets who are pearched on 2nd position with 45 points from 21 games.

In other matches Hendrix Misinde scored a brace to give Ntopwa United a deserving 2-1 win against Red Lions. Loyal Bokosi scored Lions’ consolation.

Chitipa United relied on Peter Mughogho’s lone goal to beat Blue Eagles 1-0.
