BREAKING: Government has just dropped a major plan for Luchenza!

The DPP led government under President Peter Mutharika is not playing.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Lands stormed Luchenza with a bold promise: No secondary city will be left behind.
Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Chimwemwe Chipungu, MP, led the charge in a high-level meeting with Luchenza Municipal Council.
And the message was clear.
Minister Chipungu told council leaders and residents that government is fully committed to accelerating sustainable urban development in Luchenza.
“As Malawi advances its vision for the development of secondary cities, our priority is to ensure that Luchenza is not left behind, but is instead equipped, modernised and strategically positioned to achieve sustainable growth,” Chipungu declared according to the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
Translation? Expect better roads, better planning, better land management, and better services in Luchenza.
Chipungu said every project in Luchenza is tied directly to Malawi 2063 – President Mutharika’s vision to turn Malawi into a wealthy, self-reliant nation.
“Our commitment to transforming Malawi into a developed and prosperous nation remains steadfast. We will continue to drive progress and implement initiatives that contribute to the achievement of Malawi 2063,” the Minister added during the engagement in Luchenza.
This is what leadership looks like. While others talk, the Mutharika administration is moving to decongest big cities by building up towns like Luchenza, Mzuzu, Zomba and Karonga.
Since taking office, Hon. Chimwemwe Chipungu has been on the ground. No desk politics.
He is meeting councils, listening to people, and pushing for real urban development.
