CDH Investment Bank has strengthened its partnership with Blantyre Sports Club(BSC) by supporting the renovation and upgrade of the club’s car park at a total cost of K159,438,750.
The project involved removing the old tar surface and replacing it with interlocking blocks, as well as installing solar security lights to improve safety and accessibility at the facility.
Speaking during the official handover of the upgraded car park, CDH Investment Bank Chief Human Capital Development Officer Chrispin Chikwama said the project represents an important infrastructure improvement aimed at enhancing the club’s facilities, safety and growth.
“CDH Investment Bank has a long-standing record of collaboration with Blantyre Sports Club, including renovations such as painting, greens management, and sponsorships for golf and other events.
“This latest initiative underscores the bank’s philosophy of combining strong corporate citizenship with practical support that benefits residents and visitors,” he said.
On his part,BSC Chairperson Nathan Nkhata thanked CDH Investment Bank for supporting the car park renovations, saying the improvements have now enhanced access and safety at the club through the installation of security lights.
Nkhata also commended the bank for its longstanding partnership with the club, saying the support contribute to the club’s growth and encouraged other partners to play an active role in improving the club and its facilities.
BSC serves as an important social hub that brings together people from diverse communities, contributing to social cohesion and strengthening community identity.
The upgraded car park is expected to improve the club’s ability to host events and accommodate spectators while supporting businesses that serve guests and participants.
The improvement is also expected to contribute to youth development and well-being by providing safer and more accessible spaces for training, recreation and healthy lifestyles.
The new car park and security lighting are further expected to reduce safety hazards and improve access for families, spectators, players and people with disabilities.
The partnership demonstrates how responsible corporate engagement can strengthen collaboration between businesses, civil society and community institutions.
The project also contributes to the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth.
