Senegal’s national football team remained stranded in Seattle, United States, after their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign ended, with the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) and FIFA working to organize a return flight for the delegation.
The Lions of Teranga were due to travel back to Senegal following their elimination from the tournament, but logistical challenges delayed their departure after no confirmed return flight was immediately available.
Reports from Senegal indicate that the FSF has been in discussions with FIFA to arrange a special charter flight to transport the team and officials back to Dakar as quickly as possible.
The unexpected delay has left members of the national team waiting in Seattle while travel arrangements continue to be finalized.

Some players are reported to have made their own travel plans, choosing to return directly to their clubs or families instead of waiting for the charter flight organized for the official delegation.
The situation has attracted widespread attention on social media, where many football fans expressed sympathy for the African football powerhouse following the disappointing end to their World Cup campaign.
Despite the setback, there has been no official statement suggesting that the travel delay resulted from negligence by the football federation, with reports pointing instead to unresolved flight arrangements.
FIFA has reportedly been assisting the Senegalese federation in resolving the issue to ensure the delegation returns home safely and without further delays.
The incident has sparked debate over the importance of proper logistical planning for national teams competing at major international tournaments, particularly when travel schedules can change unexpectedly after elimination.
Senegal’s World Cup journey ended earlier than expected, and the travel delay has added an unfortunate chapter to the team’s campaign as supporters now await the safe return of the Lions of Teranga to Dakar.
