The public broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) on Monday signed a licensing agreement with China’s National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) aimed at enhancing media cooperation and facilitating content exchange between the two institutions.
Speaking during the partnership signing ceremony,Chinese Ambassador to Malawi, Lu Xu, said the agreement is expected to deepen bilateral relations by enabling MBC to broadcast selected Chinese programmes

She said this will provide Malawian audiences with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of China, as well as the ongoing partnership between the two countries.
Xu added that the arrangement will support wider distribution of Chinese content through MBC platforms, while also creating space for increased cultural and media collaboration between the two broadcasters.
On his part,MBC Director General (DG ) Brian Banda described the development as a significant milestone for the national broadcaster.
He said the partnership will contribute to improving programming quality and expanding MBC’s international outlook as it continues to fulfil its mandate of informing, educating, and entertaining the public.
The agreement is expected to establish a structured framework for content sharing and long-term cooperation between MBC and NRTA.
