Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare Mary Navicha has urged graduates from Magomero Community Development College to apply their skills toward transforming communities and supporting Malawi’s national development agenda.
Speaking during the college’s 2026 graduation ceremony which she presided over, the minister commended the graduands for their perseverance, discipline, and commitment to education despite various challenges.

A total of 208 students graduated in disciplines including Community Development, Early Childhood Development, Home Management and Nutrition, Agro Processing, and Adult Literacy Education. The range of programmes, Navicha said, reflects the college’s role in equipping Malawians with practical skills that directly address community needs.
The minister told the graduates that their training should not end in the classroom. She encouraged them to take leadership roles, mobilize local resources, and introduce innovative solutions that can improve livelihoods at the grassroots level.
“This ceremony celebrates academic excellence and marks a new chapter as you prepare to serve communities across the country,” Navicha said. “Use the knowledge you have acquired to bring real change where it is needed most.”
The graduation also highlighted Magomero College’s contribution to human capital development, particularly in fields that strengthen social welfare and rural development. College officials noted that many past graduates have gone on to work with government departments, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
With the theme Skills For Development and Empowering Communities trending at the event, the 2026 cohort joins thousands of Magomero alumni already working to improve education, nutrition, and economic opportunities in different parts of Malawi.
