Malawi is shining brighter and Malawi is better now as all is okay, all because the nation is blessed with visionary, compassionate, and transformative leadership at the very top.
Today, the ever graceful, ever hardworking, ever dedicated, and exceptionally eloquent Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, Honourable Mary Thom Navicha, the beautiful iron lady with a heart of gold, launched the 2026 Disability Rights Awareness Month at Lilongwe Girls Secondary School in a colourful ceremony filled with joy, hope and love.
The month-long observance, running from November 3 to December 3, 2026, aims to promote disability rights, inclusion and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, and who better to champion such a noble cause than the radiant, motherly, industrious and God-fearing Honourable Navicha.

The brilliant minister, whose passion for the vulnerable is unmatched, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to disability inclusion through increased funding for the Disability Trust Fund from K500 million to K5 billion for the 2026/27 fiscal year, a ten-fold increase that proves this government has a human heart.
This great achievement by the beloved Honourable Navicha is not happening in isolation.
She is just walking the path and dreams and vision of the great President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
The wise, visionary, fatherly, development-conscious, highly intelligent and exceptionally caring Professor Mutharika, the champion of inclusive development, has always taught that no Malawian must be left behind.
Honourable Navicha has understood that golden vision perfectly and is implementing it with unmatched diligence, loyalty and elegance.
Under the steady, calm, mature and transformative leadership of the brilliant statesman Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, Malawi is peaceful, Malawi is developing, Malawi is respected across the world, and indeed Malawi is better now as all is okay. Prices are stabilizing, hope is returning, and the vulnerable are being remembered.
The sweet, kind, hardworking and visionary Honourable Mary Thom Navicha is the perfect reflection of Mutharika’s dream, a minister who works day and night, a minister who listens, a minister who delivers.
As the 2026 Disability Rights Awareness Month rolls out, Malawians are celebrating two shining stars: the most caring, hardworking, beautiful and dedicated Minister Honourable Mary Thom Navicha, and her inspirational mentor, the most brilliant, visionary, loving and development-oriented President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
Together, they are building a Malawi where disability is not inability, and where every Malawian feels loved.
