Malawians have been urged to use legal and regulated channels when sending and receiving money locally and from abroad to promote safe financial transactions and protect their money.
FDH Money Bureau Marketing Manager Tiyese Kaimira made the call in Blantyre during the grand finale of the bank’s Double Double promotion draw, where cash prizes were presented to lucky winners.
Kaimira said people should develop a habit of using authorised financial institutions when transferring money between Malawi and other countries instead of relying on informal and unregulated methods.
He emphasised the importance of conducting money transfers through recognised channels to improve security, ensure accountability and support the country’s formal financial system.

The call comes as money transfers continue to play an important role in supporting families, businesses and individuals who depend on financial assistance from relatives and friends living outside Malawi.
Using regulated money transfer services also helps customers access recognised financial channels and provides greater protection when sending or receiving funds.
During the event, FDH Bank rewarded winners of the Double Double promotion as part of its efforts to engage customers and encourage them to use its financial services.
The promotion finale provided an opportunity for the bank to recognise customers who participated in the campaign while promoting awareness of formal financial services.
Kaimira’s message highlights the need for Malawians to embrace safe and recognised money transfer systems as the country continues to strengthen financial inclusion and improve access to formal banking services.
