Community Feeling Initiative, in partnership with The Giving Ummah, on Saturday donated relief items worth over K5 million to vulnerable families in Chikankheni Village under Traditional Authority Mpama in Chiradzulu District.
The donation targeted elderly people, widows, women and other vulnerable members of the community who are struggling with the country’s current economic hardships.
Items distributed included clothes, shoes, blankets, soap, salt and soya pieces, with more than 100 beneficiaries receiving the support.
Speaking during the donation exercise, Community Feeling Initiative Executive Director Chifuniro Chabuka said the assistance was made possible through contributions from various individuals and organizations committed to helping vulnerable communities.
Chabuka said the initiative reflects the organization’s mission of reaching out to people in need and improving the welfare of disadvantaged families across the country.
He added that Community Feeling Initiative intends to expand the programme to reach more communities and appealed to other organizations, companies and well-wishers to partner in supporting vulnerable Malawians.
One of the beneficiaries, Fynes Nansolo, expressed gratitude to the two organizations, saying the donation had come at the right time when many households are facing economic challenges.
Nansolo said the relief items will help ease the burden on families who are struggling to meet their daily basic needs.
Traditional Authority representative Village Head Chikankheni also commended the organizations for the timely intervention, describing the donation as a lifeline for many residents in the area.
Community Feeling Initiative and The Giving Ummah say they remain committed to supporting vulnerable communities through humanitarian interventions aimed at improving the lives of people affected by poverty and economic hardship.
