The St. Columba CCAP of Balantyre Synod and the political parties led by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) today paid their last respect to the departed veteran politician Mrs. Roseby Dinala popularly known as Mai Dinala at a ceremony that took place at St. Columba CCAP before her burial at Chitawira cemetery in Blantyre.

Preaching the word of God from the book of Luke chapter 1:26-37 during the send-off of late Dinala, the moderator of St. Columba CCAP, Rev. Leonard Mmangisa said Mai Dinala was a strong woman who stood by her conviction both spiritually and politically. He added that Mai Dinala was a servant of God who fulfilled what God sent her to do while on Earth and so committed to her party regardless of the cost.

Making his sorrowful speech, the state president of the Republic of Malawi, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera mourned Roseby Dinala by describing Dinala as a woman of Passion, Action and positive Reaction all the time owing this to her dedication to God. Malawi’s leader added that she was a woman who interacted with all ages of people and that her life is worthy celebrating. Chakwera further mourned Mai Dinala as one of the figures that represented the existence and strength of the Malawi Congress Party to-date because of her courage and that her demise has left a big gap in advisory role to MCP leadership and a party as a whole.

Among notable faces include Rev. Moyenda Kanjewa who is the deputy Secretary General for CCAP, Blantyre Synod, first lady of the Republic of Malawi, Madam Monica Chakwera, Hon. Sidik Mia(Min. of Transport), Hon. Michael Usi(Min. of Culture), MCP’ campaign director Moses Kumkuyu, Mai. Hilda Manjamkhosi (another renown veteran for MCP) and many others. During the funeral ceremony of Mai Dinala all precautions to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic were strictly observed despite the presence of the state president.

Mai Roseby Dinala joined St. Columba CCAP on August 16 in 1992 and until her death was a member of women guild. Apart from being a member of CCAP, late Dinala was a veteran member of the Malawi Congress Party for over 50 years. She passed on on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 after a very short illness, just 2 days after celebrating her 82nd birthday. *_RIP Roseby Dinala_* *Reported by Chilimunthaka*
