“I didn’t promise you fish, I promised you a fishing rod” — Chipungu delivers as Luchenza women receive business capital

By Jones Gadama

Minister of Lands and Urban Development Honorable Chimwemwe Mazabuka Chipungu has once again proven that he is a man of his word and a true development conscious leader after fulfilling his campaign promise to the people of Luchenza.

Speaking during the launch of CDF funds in Luchenza, Chipungu said “I didn’t promise my people fish but I promised them fishing rod” and today that fishing rod has been given to the people and it will be used to generate income for families.

“I am pleased to see our commitment to empowering the people of Luchenza continuing to translate into tangible results. Today, women from Nsambagalu, Thundu and Namadidi have received business capital to start their local bakery businesses after successfully completing their training. With this support, our women’s empowerment initiative has now reached all five wards,” said Chipungu.

Chipungu reminded the people that during his campaign, he made a clear commitment that he will give them a fishing rod, not fish, because he believes in empowering people with skills and resources to become self-reliant and economically independent.

The development conscious minister who is working on a daily basis helping the needy was accompanied by another hardworking and humble minister, Honorable Ben Malunga Phiri, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, a sign of unity and servant leadership in President Arthur Peter Mutharika’s government.

Chipungu thanked His Excellency President Arthur Peter Mutharika for fulfilling his campaign promises and turning them into reality, describing Mutharika as a true father of the nation who is turning his campaign into reality for all Malawians.

Chipungu is truly a God given leader not only in his Luchenza Constituency but the whole Malawi as a number of people have benefited from his generosity and development programs regardless of where they come from.

From women, to youths, to traditional chiefs and other community leaders, his support continues to touch lives.

President Mutharika must be praised for appointing such hardworking ministers and for turning his campaign into reality.

What was promised during campaign is now being delivered on the ground.

Chipungu said he remains committed to supporting women, youths and communities because development must create opportunities that improve people’s livelihoods.

“Our promise is empowerment. Our mission is development. Together, we are moving Luchenza. Bind up the testimony and seal the teaching. The Remnant is Back!” said Chipungu.
