Revolutionary leader of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, has claimed that ever since multiparty politics and democracy was introduced into the country in 1994, democracy was hijacked by political dominion leaving people and the country suffering.
Jumah said political parties registered in Malawi in 1993 and 1994 hijacked the true meaning of multiparty democracy observing that many Malawians think that democracy is lawlessness and poverty.
He said the word ” economic liberalization and free enterprise was misunderstood by many Malawians as meaning freedom to do whatever one wants saying this is why Malawi is moving backward not forward.

Speaking through the Revolutionary voice, Jumah said the spirit of hard work which the country’s forefathers have been teaching Malawians is gone, politicians have developed a new system for quick riches claiming that all politicians when they are leaving government, they are billionaires.
Jumah said in 1994 people didn’t understand that changing from one – party state to multiparty democracy will bring in new development which they have never seen it from before.
He said from 1994 Malawians have been changing governments but the system is the same and this has made all Malawians to be disappointed claiming that what they have been expecting from their government is different from what they are seeing today.
The Revolutionary leader has claimed that citizens are now sleeping together with their livestock, maize granaries which were outside their houses are now inside their houses, questioning Malawians that is this what is meant by democracy?
He said Malawians have achieved freedom for political parties to be free to choose their loyalists into parastatal organizations and Diplomatic missions not on merit but through nepotism and favoritism.
Jumah has observed that after multiparty democracy in 1994, democracy has become a rewarding instrument for political parties, convicts and suspects who are being rewarded with big positions in institutions and cases of corruption are discontinued.
” Government is no longer an institution that serves the people, is this the democracy that we all voted for?” He questioned.
The Revolutionary leader said for 32 years of democracy in Malawi, Malawians have been changing beneficiaries of the system not the system itself warning Malawians that if they keep on voting for beneficiaries to continue benefiting from the system, Malawi will remain to be a poor country forever.
He said each and every government that comes in Malawi, serve its members and party loyalists – these are the ones that are enjoying the fruits while 21 million citizens are suffering observing that this is one reason the country has registered no meaningful development in the hands of politicians.
Jumah said the system was deliberately designed to protect corruption, and rewarding party loyalists over justice advising Malawians with a message of hope that what has been created by a human being can be changed by a human being.
He said time for changing the country is now not 2030 saying Malawi is at the crossroads, the country must be rebooted and go back for factory setting as it was in 1964 for it to be totally free from political party dominion not to hijack democracy.
