Political activist Bon Kalindo has cried to all former presidents Dr. Bakili Muluzi, Dr. Joyce Banda and Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to come together and meet President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on how best to rescue Malawians trapped with Xenophobic violences in South Africa.
Kalindo said he was deeply touched by a video footage showing Malawians walking on foot from where they were in camps moving along the main road to Malawi because where they were, there’s no food, water and even toilets.
He said he saw women carrying babies on their backs, children and men ready for anything starting their journey to Malawi on foot fearing that these people can be attacked by wild animals while on their way to Malawi.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo has asked former presidents to do their part as they have done it before mobilizing support for Malawi internationally and locally for Malawians to be rescued in South Africa.
Kalindo said some of the people who have set out the journey to Malawi on foot were interviewed by CNN and Aljazira news network that the Malawi Government has failed to assist them and Aljazira TV reported that Malawi is nowhere to be seen for its people in South Africa.
He said this could be the best time for former presidents, vice presidents and business captains to meet on a roundtable discussion on the way forward for Malawians to be rescued in South Africa.
” What is happening to Malawians in South Africa is a matter of concern to all, these people went there for greener pastures but the situation, is forcing them to come back home,” said Kalindo.
He has sent a verbal message to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa that enough is enough, they have inflicted pain on Malawians in their country, they have killed Malawians and make Malawians suffer a lot, saying Malawians are mobilizing themselves to send each and every South African living in Malawi back home in August, 2024.
Kalindo has given South African people living in Malawi up to the end of July, 2026 to prepare and be ready to go back to their country.
He has thanked EFF leader Comrade Julius Malema for demonstrating to the whole World that an African cannot be a stranger in an African country saying Malema deserve to be a true leader who stand for the truth that the continent of Africa is for Africans and Europeans are strangers in Africa.
Over 30,000 Malawians have been reported to have come back into the country from South Africa but many are still in repatriation centres waiting for buses while others, do now where these buses are stationed taking Malawians home.
