Limbe Police Station has impounded 59 motorcycles during a joint traffic enforcement operation conducted within the Limbe policing area to promote road safety and enforce compliance with traffic laws.
According to Limbe Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Demetria Banda, the operation was carried out by the station’s Traffic Branch in collaboration with the Malawi Coalition for Kabaza Stakeholders Association (MACOKASA).
The exercise targeted motorcycle operators across the Limbe policing area, where officers inspected motorcycles for roadworthiness and compliance with traffic regulations.

Police said the operation focused on ensuring that motorcycle operators adhered to road safety requirements aimed at protecting both riders and passengers.
During the inspections, officers impounded 59 motorcycles after detecting various traffic offences.
Some of the offences included operating unroadworthy motorcycles and failing to comply with mandatory helmet requirements.
Police described the exercise as part of ongoing efforts to improve discipline among motorcycle operators and reduce road traffic accidents.
Banda urged motorcycle operators to ensure their motorcycles are properly maintained and meet all roadworthiness standards before using public roads.
She also reminded both riders and passengers that wearing approved safety helmets is a legal requirement that helps save lives.
The station further called on all motorcycle operators to obey traffic laws and regulations at all times to avoid penalties and contribute to safer roads.
Police emphasized that similar enforcement operations will continue across the Limbe policing area to encourage compliance with road safety standards.
Limbe Police and MACOKASA have since assured the public of their continued commitment to protecting all road users through regular traffic enforcement and road safety awareness initiatives.
