Malawi will host a four-nation tournament for senior men’s and Under 20 National Football Teams during the upcoming FIFA International Window from March 18 to 26 in Lilongwe.
The tournament will involve hosts Malawi, Zambia, Kenya and Zimbabwe.
According to a joint press statement in our possession,the tournaments will be held concurrently.
The statement further says the tournament for senior teams will be a perfect opportunity for the national football teams to prepare for their respective fixtures in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (qualifiers).
“Additionally, by bringing together the best young players from across our countries, these Under-20 tournaments will aid in developing and exposing elite youth talent while preparing teams for upcoming 2024 Afcon Under-20 qualifiers later this year,” reads part of the joint statement.
However,commenting on the development, FAM president Fleetwood Haiya said:”We believe hosting these joint tournaments will build camaraderie between our nations, provide high-level competition for our players, and elevate youth football programs across Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.”
