MCP Diaspora Network takes Christmas Celebrations to Mzimba District Hospital

The diaspora arm of the ruling Malawi Congress Party has made a kind festive season gesture by donating assorted items worth K2 Million to Patients at Mzimba District Hospital as part of this year’s Christmas celebrations.  The donation was made on boxing day with Hon Jacob Hara, Minister of Transport and MP for Mzimba Solola as the Guest of Honour

Making the donation, one of the local representatives of the group Dyson Chikolera said , the MCP members in the diaspora have made it a tradition to give something and cheers those in hospitals over the festive period. “After making donations to Mwanza  and Mchinji district hospitals in the previous years , it was now the turn for Mzimba” said Chikolera

Chikolera  went on to say MCP members in diaspora will continue providing support to the needy, adding challenges people are facing in hospitals cannot only be addressed by government. He highlighted that diaspora Malawians  are very much interested to contribute  their talents and resources to Malawi

In his remarks, Hon Jacob Hara thanked the MCP members in diaspora for this kind gesture. He also took time and preached to the patients, said the love and unity that has been demonstrated by MCP members in diaspora should be encouraged even to Malawians back home.

The visit offered him opportunity to see the many challenges the hospital is facing such as overcrowding and need for infrastructure maintenance. Mzimba District Hospital is a referral Hospital and serves catchment population of over 700 thousand people.

Atisiya Mwase, The Hospitals Nursing Officer said the donation had come at the right time  and that the hospital welcomed the donation

Malawi Congress Party Diaspora Network (MCPDN)  is  comprised of various diaspora regional groups that comes together under one umbrella group. Currently led by UK based Chalo Mvula , the group has active regional Wings In Republic of Ireland, Canada, USA, UK , Gulf Region , South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
