MANGOCHI — A police officer was injured and a police facility damaged after angry community members protested at Chilipa Police Unit in Mangochi District over concerns surrounding the handling of a case involving a 14-year-old boy.
The confrontation escalated into violence as protesters allegedly vandalised parts of the police unit and clashed with officers who were responding to the disturbance.

Police have arrested eight members of the boy’s family in connection with the incident.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the circumstances surrounding the case involving the minor or the specific grievances that triggered the protest.
Investigations into the violence and the damage caused at Chilipa Police Unit are continuing.
