Two people are in Police custody at Balaka Police Station for allegedly being found in possession of Cannabis Sativa commonly known as Chamba without a licence.
The two are identified as Mayeso Jango aged 35 from Mkweya Village and McLoud Kamtema aged 49 from Madyeratu Village, both from Traditional Authority Chanthunya in Balaka District.
According to Balaka Police Spokesperson, Gladson M’bumpha, the suspects got arrested in the wee hours of Thursday, 14 may, 2026 within Balaka District during an intelligence driven exercise .
Mbumpha says during their arrest, Jango was found in possession with loose Cannabis Sativa and 35 twists while McLoud Kamtema was found in possession of loose Cannabis Sativa, 10 twists and some medical drugs.
The suspects will appear before court soon to answer charges leveled against them.
