Two Malawian Women arrested in Mauritius for Drug Trafficking

Two Malawians Women have been arrested in Mauritius after being intercepted at the marina two weeks ago smuggling drugs into the country. A total of 112 pellets of heroin was found in their stomachs.

The two women who have been named as Victoria Sitolo Mwale aged 39 and Mercy Fatima Mandala aged 30, arrived in Mauritius on flight MK852 from Johannesburg, South Africa on July 12.



The women claimed to be businesswomen, but were observed to be acting suspiciously. This aroused the suspicions of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) based at the airport. The latter discovered pellets of heroin in the bodies of the two passengers thanks to the body scanner. They were taken to the hospital.

Victoria Sitolo Mwale served 44 dumplings while Fatima Mandela served 68. They left the hospital center on Friday July 29 and were taken into custody.
