Development priorities in Mzimba District took centre stage on Monday when British High Commissioner to Malawi Leigh Stubblefield met Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V at Edingeni to discuss ways of supporting communities in the district.
The engagement brought together the United Kingdom’s diplomatic representative in Malawi and one of the country’s senior traditional leaders to explore areas where development cooperation can benefit local communities.

The discussions focused on various development initiatives in Mzimba, with traditional leadership providing an important link between development partners and communities at grassroots level.
The meeting also highlighted the role traditional leaders can play in identifying local priorities and supporting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and livelihoods of people in their areas.
Stubblefield’s engagement with M’mbelwa V provided an opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on development challenges and consider areas of potential cooperation.
The discussions took place at Edingeni, the headquarters of the M’mbelwa traditional leadership, as stakeholders continue to seek practical approaches to addressing community development needs in Mzimba District.
The meeting reflects the broader importance of partnerships between Malawi’s traditional institutions and international development partners in supporting sustainable development at local level.
