Malawi has suffered enough.
The coming in of His Excellency President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has brought new hope and a fresh boost for a nation tired of theft, lies and failed promises.
Malawians are now demanding one thing: accountability for the K6 billion fertilizer scandal that rocked the Chakwera administration.
You will recall that in 2022, the MCP government under President Lazarus Chakwera paid huge sums of taxpayers’ money to companies with no capacity to supply fertilizer under the Affordable Inputs Programme.
In a shocking twist, one of the payments was made to a company registered as a butchery to supply fertilizer.
The fertilizer never came. The money disappeared. And Malawians were left to suffer hunger.
Investigations by ACB and Parliament later confirmed “procedural flaws” and abuse of office.
Some Admarc officials were arrested, but up to today, the masterminds who authorized payment to that butchery have not been prosecuted.The case was swept under the carpet.
That is why the Malawi Prayer and Action Network – MPAN is now making a strong and direct call to President Mutharika.
Speaking this week, MPAN leaders said Malawians have waited too long for justice.
“President Mutharika is the saviour Malawi needs at this hour,” MPAN said, adding that,“We call upon him to fast track the prosecution of all those who messed up taxpayer money in the fraudulent butchery fertilizer deal. MCP stole from Malawians and it must come to an end.”
MPAN emphasized that under President Mutharika’s leadership, truth and justice must finally come out. “The money that was stolen belongs to poor Malawians. It must be recovered and returned,” the network added.
Citizens across the country have welcomed President Mutharika’s return, saying he has the experience and political will to deal away with corruption and impunity.
For many, this is not just about fertilizer. It is about restoring dignity, discipline, and accountability in government.
Under President Mutharika, Malawians believe the days of “butchery fertilizer” and looting are finally over.
