Manchester United fans in Malawi and globally have woken up to the news that one of their players, talented striker Mason Greenwood will be subjected to police investigation over allegations of raping his ex girlfriend. Greater Manchester Police say they are aware of social media allegations against Manchester United star .
According to Manchester Evening News Police says it is “aware of images and videos circulating on social media” relating to the 20-year-old striker. Enquiries have been launched to establish the full circumstances.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the force said: “Greater Manchester Police is aware of images and videos circulating on social media. “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
Manchester United has also issued a statement after the allegations surfaced overnight. The club said it was aware of “images and allegations circulating on social media” relating to Greenwood.
A spokesperson for the Red Devils said they “did not condone violence of any kind” but would not make further comment “until the facts have been established”. The club’s statement read: “We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media.
“We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”
