Zambia, Malawi exchange Prisoners to enable them serve sentences in respective countries

Thirty four Malawian nationals who were serving prison sentences in Zambia Eastern and Muchinga provinces have been transferred to the Malawi Prison Service. This was in an exchange deal that saw 25 Zambians who were serving prison sentences in Malawi transferred to the Zambian Correctional Services.

247Malawi News has learnt that Malawi has a memorandum of understanding with Zambia that enables the two countries to exchange prisoners

The MOU agreement would make it easier in reducing the level of malpractice by foreign prisoners who usually influence bad behavior among local prisoners. “The agreement is a relief since most foreign prisoners are difficult to control because of bad behavior which tend to influence our prisoners
